STEAMER STRANDED
MANY RESCUED IN POLICE BOATS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received February 8, 11.45 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 7. The steamer Princess Anne has stranded at Rookaway Point. Thirtytwo passengers and the crew were rescued by lifeboats. Thirty-two passengers and twentyeight of the crew of the steamer were taken off in police boats. Forty-four of the crew are left on board. The rescuers fought ice and heavy seas for hours. The weather is moderating, and /tugs .are trying to pull off the vessel*.
