A conference of representatives of lo* cal bodies, boroughs, and counties, from itakaia to Waitaki was held hero today when it was resolved to urge tho Government to speedily fulfil a- promise given that tho Lake Cioleridgo power would bo extended to Ashburton and bouth Canterbury, when tho war was over, as the industries of Ashburton and Timaru aro unable to compete with Ciiristcburdi and Dunedin, wliich havo tho advantage of cheap electricity. A deputation of members for the districts, Mayors, and county chairmen are to proceed to AYellington to urge that effect bo given to tho Ministerial promises-
