Mr E. G. F. Zohrab advises that the coastal steamer Huia will leave 'Wellington this evening for Wanganui. Cargo will he received np till noon to-day. The Baden Powell is to leave Wellington to-day for Lyttelton. The Karamu and Putiki passed the Wellington Heads at 11.15 o’clock on Saturday night, bound eastVard. The Wootton ia due at’ Wellington tomorrow from Lyttelton, and will sail on Wednesday, probably for Bluff. / The Kokiiri is to bo dispatched from Wellington for Westport this afternoon. The Union Company’s collier Kui, w-hioh is completing an extensive overhaul on tiio Wellington patent slip, is to sail on Wednesday for Westport. Banuatyne and Co. advice that l M Pacroa is due back at Wellington about the middle- of next week with general cargo from Hokitika. Arrangements have been made by the Union Company for carrying on the East Coast cargo service during the Mokoia’s absence, the AVanaka, Te Anau and Ramona being used for that purpose. The American schooner Samar, 70 days out from San Prancisco, with a cargo ot oil and lumber, arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday. The liner Sussex arrived at Auckland on Saturday morning from New York. She is duo here about next Saturday.

The Waihomo. the now cargo steamer of the Union Company, now- on her maiden voyage from England, arrived at Vancouver on January 16th, and she was to loadvthere and at San Francisco for Napier, Lyttelton. Dunedin and Sydney. The Stella has been fixed to load a full cargo of explosives at Auckland for Wellington and Dunedin. She is expected to leave Auckland to-day. The British Imperial Oil Company’s steamer Cyrena arrived at Auckland at 10.30 a.m. yesterday with case oil from Singapore. She is duo at Wellington next week.

The Araputu, having completed her overhaul at Port Chalmers, went up to Dunedin on Thursday to load a cargo of tiles and piping for Lyttelton and Wellington. She will probably sail to-day for these ports, and will proceed later in ballast to Nelson, which i& to be her homo port in future. The Kakapo was docked at Lyttelton on Thursday morning. After having her shaft drawn for inspection, and Having sundry repairs effected to her hull, she will be floated out probably about tomorrow. She will then be berthed handy to the foundry, where her survey work will be completed. Captain Knowles, of tbs Kakapo, and Mr Scott and Mr Bennett, second and third officer respectively, have gone on holiday leave, their vessel being at present laid up at Lyttelton to undergo survey. Captain J. W. Batchelor, who, retired last year from the Liverpool Salvage Association, received from the New York underwriters a cheque for .£IOOO in recognition of the services ho rendered in Italy during the first two years of war in clearing away the extraordinary congestion of cotton which had occurred at various Italian ports. Company advise that the Manuka is now timed to sail from Sydney at noon to-morrow direct for Wellington, where she is duo next Saturday. Mr S. Ewan has joined the Maheno as purser vice Mr C. Leighton, who has transferred to the Makura. Mr G. Pike has signed on the Paloona’s articles as purser. Mr H. Simpson, late purser of the Mokoia, is now on the Corinua. MAPOURIKA FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. The Union Company advise that the Mapourika is to leave Wellington to-day witn general cargo for New Plymouth. The vessel left Lyttelton at 5 p.m. yesterday for Wellington with a small quantity of fruit. WAIKAWA FROM PACIFIC SLOPE 1 , At 8.30 o'clock yesterday morning the Union Company's new cargo steamer Waikawa arrived in the stream at Wellington with general cargo from Vancouver and San Francisco. The vessel waa inspected and given a dean hill of health by the port medical officer yesterday. The Waikawa has 30 tons of explosives to discharge in the powderground and will subsequently berth at No. 4, Queen’s wharf, to put out 2800 tons of cargo. From Wellington the Waikawa will proceed to Melbourne to complete her discharge in Australia. Captain J. Thompson, who is in command of the Waikawa, was master of the Waihemo when she was torpedoed in the Mediterranean. Ho subsequently took charge of the Waimarino. NEW VANCOUVER LINER. The Union Company are having built a steamer to take the place of the 15,000 ton steamer Avenger, sunk during the war while on Admiralty service.
