The executive of the Marine Engineer’s Institute reports that tho West Australian State Shipping Service has agreed to pay the full rates demanded by the engineers and till© West Australian coastal service will resume immediately. “BUSHRANGING’' TACTICS. MR HUGHES~USES STRONG WORDS. MELBOURNE, February 6. Replying to a deputation of the Workers’ Wharf Union, asking for assistance to meet tho distress caused by tho marine engineers’ strike. Mr Hughes strongly condemned the “bushranging attitude” of the. engineers. Ho said ho regarded the ‘rejection of the latest terms of settlement as an ultimatum, and would treat it as such. “If the men remain out for six months they will bo no better off than they are today." Ho promised to consult the Cabinet on tho question of assistance for the unemployed. THOUSANDS IDLE. SYDNEY, February 0. There are now 15,000 unemployed in Sydney, and 180,496 tons of shipping are idle in Sydney and Newcastle harbours.
