MYSTERIOUS “G”
WIRELESS PHENOMENA STRANGE MESSAGES READ IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright (Received February 6, 10.25 p.m.) SY’DNEY, February 6Wireless signals similar to tb© mysterious messages reported by Marconi have been received at the Amalgamated Wireless Station at Wabvoonga. The signals repeat in Morse code the letter “6,” and appear to be under intelligent control. ' ' Alarconi made a remarkable state* ment to the effect that for some time past wireless operators during both day and night have been puzzled by interruptions, the signals taking the form of apparently meaningless combinations of letters. These interruptions are nob confined to any country or continent,. and have been heard simultaneously in London, and Now York. Marconi describes them as very queer sounds, and adds that there are indications that- they-might coma from somewhere- outside the -earth- - Some letters in particular occur with, the greatest frequency, but in no-case has anything picked up been translatable into a definite message. They are of identical intensity, but eeem. to emanate from the greatest of distances. Possibly they are duo to natural electrical disturbances such as eruptions on the sun.
Asked if it was possible that, other planet was attempting to cOm-< murricate with the earth, plied: “I would not rule put' thad possibility, but there la, no ppoo<fi, , ' , 1 The strange sounds are not confined! to ■ any particular period,. and lire, as frequent by day asj -by nighty ffhe phenomena were first noticed before the war, the advent of which, however, suspended further investigation, oij the cause. •,
