EBTONE SEASON OPENED. The opening of the Heretaunga Boating Club's twelfth season was held on the beach at Petone on Saturday afternoon and proved to be one of the most successful gatherings held by the club. There was a large attendance of yachtsmen, including 200 visitors from other clubs, amongst those present being the Port Nicholson Yacht Glut', the Evans Bay Yacht and Mo-tor-boat Club. Mr H. Brown, commodore of the local club welcomed the visiting yachtsmen and friends. Fraternal greetings were exchanged by Mr W. Duncan (commodore) on behalf of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club, and Messrs Webley (vico-oommodore) and Smith, representing the Evans Bay Yacht and Motorboat Oltfb. Mr T. M. Wiiford, M.P., who was present received a special welcome. Afternoon tea was served in the club’s shed by a committee of ladies. . The following races were decided, PORT NICHOLSON CLUB. Kotiri (3hr 14min 40sec) 1; Galatea (3hr 50min SOsec) 2; IVairere I. (3hr 50min 50seo) 3. Also competed—lo’unthe (3hr obmin lOsec); Viola (3hr 60min 7seo); Maranji (4hr 3min 40sec); Muritani (4hr 30min 40sec). EVANS BAY CLUB. Waitangi (4hr 3min ssec); Venoua (4hr 25mm lOsec); Viking (4hr 23miu 20sec); Ronip (4hr 17min 20sec). LAUNCHES. lona (3hr 53min SOsec); Duzzil (3hi 37min SOsec). HERETAUNGA CLUB. The prizes won ty the Waitangi and Kotiri were presented by the Heretunga Boating Club, and the officers and committee passed a hearty vote of thanks to. the ladies who ■ assisted in making the opening suclf a pronounced success.
