The Upper Hutt was indebted to Mr. L. Tremayne (late District President of the Druids Lodge) as donor of the handsome shield. Mr James Todd, on behalf of the Druids, Mr Basil lliutin, as captain of the local Fire Brigade, and Mr George Robertson, on behalf of tho Camp team, also spoke. After a "final flutter" at the card, table a musical progwvmmo was given, the following contributing.;—. Songs by Messrs Robertson, Durham, Crabtree", D. Greig, and Bennington; and a "backwoods story" by Mr : It. Mabey. Tho toast list included that of "Tho Victors," ''The Fire Brigade," "The Druids," "The Men of Trontnom." and "The Visitors," each of which was drunk to musical honours. In responding to the toast of the visitors, SeniorConstabio Cummings. who is goingi ou sick, leave, humorously ventured the opinion that for sociability the "Upper Hutt came very near to I'icton (his lor mer place of residence). One of thu happiest of gatherings was drawn to a close at 'midnight with' the singing ol "Auld -Lang Syne" and t"he National Anthem.
