The Employers' and Employees' Conference passed a motion by 46 votes to 38 in favour of a general reduction of working hours without a reduction in wages, the immediate introduction of a 40-hour week in underground or hazardous occupations, and 44 hours ih other occupations, no maximum exceeding 48 hours.
