ISLAND OF MAURITIUS
TO REMAIN BRITISH POSSESSION. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received November 6, 8.5 p.m.) DURBAN, November 5. Sir Hesketh Bell, Governor of Mauritius, interviewed, said that tho question of retrocession of Mauritius to Franco had boon definitely settled. Tho island would remain a British possession. Ninety per cent, of the inhabitants had no desire whatever for a.change of flag. It is estimated that the Mauritius sugar crop for tho season will total 260,000 tons. Mauritius is an island in the Indian Ocean, forming, with its denendenoies, a Crown colony of Great Britain. Whites form a comparatively small portion of the population.
