HOROWHENUA NOTES

{From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, September 29. Mr J. W. Hodgson, postmaster at Otaki, leave® this week on his annual furlough. After visiting Wnihi ho will travel further north, and spend much of his time in the Auckland district. Mr Hodgson’s place nt Otaki will be taken by Mr Bean, of Wellington. Airs Hodgson also leaves for the north this week, and will visit Wanganui. A two-up school wa» located in Otaki last week, but its members dispersed before tho arrival of tho police. The .members of tho Otaki Hockey Club played Huia at Wellington on Saturday. A draw —throe goals each—resulted. The visitors speak highly of the treatment accorded them by tho city players and supporters. Tho F.oxton Bowling Club has notified its intention of being represented at tho opening of the Otaki Club’s season on Wednesday. Air T. Thorno has donated X‘4 to the Otaki branch of the Returned Soldiers’ .Association.
