Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. February 15.. The Pioneer Motor Club motor carnival to-day was verv largely- attended. South Island Middleweight Championship, ten miles— Haworth (Christchurch) 1, G. Moffat (Christchurch) 2, J. Dawler (l'almerston North) 3. Won easily. Time, lOmin 14 4-ssec, Australasian Heavyweight Championship, fifteen miles—ll. K., Crawley (Carterton) 1, L. Mangharn f(otaki)'2, WClaringhold (Hawera) 3. Also started— Hinds. Time. Bmin 26 3-590 c. A feature event of the day created keen interest, Kav Crawley, winner of tha Australasian heavyweight championship, taking the' field with his 7-h.p. Harley-Davidson, against J. Mercer In a 100-h.p. aeroplane. The course was over five ni'ileß, each competitor taking a flying Btart. M>rcer followed the line of the track. At a height of about 500 feet Crawley won by about fifty yards.
