THE POLICEMEN'S HOLIDAY
EXJOYABLD OUTING AT TITAHI BAY.
Yesterday several members of the Police Force, together with their friends, journeyed to Titahi Bay for the purpose of whiling nwav a few leisure hours in pleasant fashion. The exigencies of city police work debar the men in blue from indulging in outdoor pastime to any groat extent, and on this account the outing was doubly enjoyable. The weather was ouite beyond reproach, and there was nothing to complain about as regards the arrangements. During the day an interesting sports programme was gone through, the icsujt.s being as under : Younf Ladies' Eace—Miss Johnson, 1; Miss Armstrong, 2. Married Ladies' Eace—Mrs O'Shoa, 1; Mrs Neale, 2. Police Cup, 220yds—Sergeant O'Hara, 1; Constable Jones, 2. Hop, Step, and Jump—McPhee, I ; O'Hara, 2. 220yds Open Eace—McPhee, l;.o'Donnell, 2. Three-legged Race—Mr Wallace ard Mrs Brognas, 1; Mr Drumgool and Miss Hadlee, 2. A tujr-of-war between the single and married men resulted in a win for the former. Children's races, for which prizes were provided, were also held during the day.
