The fortnightly salos of hides and tallow were held in Wellington on Friday. The reports to hand ehow that competition from both oxporters . and tanners was extremely keen, and prioes showed an advance of a half-penny per lb for cow hides, and W'to jd per lb for ox hides. Murray, Roberts and Co, secured the extreme price of 14id per lb for two lines of heavy ox in prime condition. Calfskins were in good demand at advanced prions. Tallow was entirely negleotod.
