ROSE PINK WINS BIG HANDICAP.

rUNKA TAKES HAZLET MEMORIAL. ! Press Association. DUNEDIN, February 16. The Bunedin jockey Club's meeting was finished yesterday in fine weather. There was a big attendance. The going was good. The totalisator put through .£31,583, as against .£24,399> 10s on the second day of last year. The total for tho meeting was .£58,875, as compared with .£47,672 last year. United 'Service and Hard Shot led over the first hurdle, and then Calma took charge leaving the straight. Euripos moved up at the back stretch, in the run home beat Calma by three lengths. Andrews) 2 3—Lady* Edith, 7.11 (Emerson) 3 Also started—2 Cave Eock 9.4, 5 Wild Night 8.4, Lady Edith jumped away at the start, and Wild Night was next. Red Tape was last. On the back stretch Cave Eock dropped back. Red Tape improved his position. On entering the straight Lady Edith led, but Red Tape soon displaced her, and -won easily by a length. Rose Pink assumed the lead from Rorke's Drift, then Mazaraa joined the leader two lengths in front of Royal Star and Eorke's Drift. Winter Cherry looked dangerous' for a time, but Rose Pink held her own to the end, and won by a length and a half. Time, 2min 9seo.- . HAZLETT MEMORIAL STAKES, Of 500 soj-s; one, mile. After a good start Killjoy assumed the lead from Heathercote and Eleus. Punka joined Killjoy, which forced ahead and won comfortably by two lengths. Time, lmin, 42 2-ssec. PVjama got a flying start. Trentham Rose drew up to the leader and the" pair led the field. Bon Spec got a flying start and the race waß never in doubt. Minsk just beat Osterman by a head. Time, lmin 17 8-ssec. At the close of the race there was a hostile demonstration against the starter. Robineon) ... 3 Also started-3 Helicon 9.8. 6 Palamon 9.4, 4 Tin Soldier 9.3, 8 Aycliffe 8.3, 7 Tyne 7.13, 9 Bon 7.7.« An excellent start. Aycliffe was first to show out. Before entering the straight Golden King came up, but Bellshire a'fcd Kilbrogan shook him oft", and after an exciting finish' Bollshire won by a short neck. Time, lmin 29 3-ssec.
