RAILWAYS MANAGER
SUCCESSOR TO MR HI LEI APPOINTMENT OF MR R. W. McVILLY. The Assistant-General Manager ot Railways, Mr R. W. McVilly, has been appointed General Sfanager as from April 30th next, in succession to Mr E. H. Hiley, the present General Manager, who then retires. The term of Mr Hiley's original appointment expired in August last, when he asked to have the engagement terminated, as he wished to return to England. At the special request of the I Government, however, he agreed to 'continue to occupy the' position of General Manager till the close of the present financial year. Mr MoVilly entered the,railway ser« vice as a boy, and has worked his way steadily up through various grades. Under Mr Ronayne, who preceded Mr Hiley as General Manager, Mr McVilly was chief clerk, and he wa3 promoted to be Assistant-General Manager When Mr Hiley was appointed. The new General Manager has had very considerable experience as; a railway pr» ganiser and administraitor.
