HUGE EXPLOSION
DAMAGE ESTIMATED AT £1,750,000.
(Received November 27, 10.30..p.m.) LONDON, November, 26. v rj An explosion occurred at Silvertbn by which damage to the extent of £1,750,000 was done.
There is nothing to indicate where the Silverton referred to is situated. In our available ■ gazeteers there are several Silvertons, ail of comparatively small importance, and but one Silvertown, which is situated on the Thames, in the County of Essex, but there, is nothing to lead to the supposition that such a tremendous explosion could have happened there. It is an industrial town of small population.
