CAUSES DIPLOMATIC TROUBLE
FRENCH NOTE TO DUTCH government. By Telegraph—Press Association Copy right Australian and N.Z. Cable Association' PARIS, November 26. The French Government has been legally advised that Holland is entitled to order the Kaiser’s extradition, or, alternatively, if he , has not abdicated he is not entitled to claim sanctuary as a civilian. It is semi-officially denied that the Entente Ministers at The Hague agreed to the passage of German troops through Limburg. The “Matin,” commenting on the French Government’s reply to the Dutch Note, says: “The sojourn of the Kaiser and the Crown Prince imposes upon Dutch neutrality a more scrupulous degree of prudence than in other countries; but unfortunately this his not been shown to he contrary to The Hague Convention. Cabinet, in addition to approving of the German retreat through Limburg, allowed tor-pedo-boats interned in Dutch ports to be towed to Germany through Dutch waters; also the .Dutch Foreign Minister pleaded Germany’s cause, and asked for an amelioration of the armistice.” The “Matin” concludes: “The French Note is a preliminary warning.” PUNISHMENT OF KAISER AND CROWN PRINCE DEMANDED. The “Morning Post’s” Paris correspondent states that public opinion in France is hardening in favour of the Allies informing Holland that it is essential she should give up .the Kaiser and Crown Prince in order that they may be definitely for their monstrous crimes.
