Thoro was a record gathering at the Petone Tennis Chib’s courts on Saturday. when the season was declared open gv~Mr J. W. Mcßwian (Mayor ot Petone). jlr McEwan made reference to the fact that amongst those (present were several members of the club who had seen service at the front. Ho was confident the war would be over in less than twelve months, and the brave young men would be back to their homes again and joining in games of tennis. Mr McEwan then formally declared the courts open by serving the first ball across the net.
