VITAL POSITION GAINED BY BRITISH

General March states that -when the British captured Aulnoye it became the vital strategical position -to force a further extensive retirement. The LTege-Maubeuge railway meets the Sedan railway at Aulnoye. These are the Germans' main lines of communication and supply.
