News from the West front emphasises the enemy's difficulties. Our laj* est advance has turned the Hunding line between Laon. This is the enemy s next line'of retreat, and js j-oughly behind and Sissonne barrier; "British are now well,in the^-ear of the Hunding line. The will evacuate the St. Gob'ain massif immediately, and also be compelled to straighten out the line between Lille and the Scarpe. It is difficult to know exactly how the enemy will join up these two lines. _ It dependsron: what the "Allies have in store. The enemy'sdays for retirement "according to plan" are past. They are now evacuating tlte Chemin-dea-Dames.
