Evidence* of the mischievous result of anti-militarist rumours, regarding the condition of affairs m New Zealand, is conveyed in a letter received by a Christchurch resident by the last Australian mail. The writer, who was contemplating the sale of certain New Zealand securities very much below their value, in giving the reasons for the proposed sacrifico, wrote: "I heard New Zealand was in a bad way, owing to conscription, and nearly overy day we see in our papers advertisements for men to' go to New Zealand to take positions there." The writer has been assured by return mail that New Zealand is not in the bad way its destractors appear to havo led some people to believe. Constable Thomas Fahey, who has been stationed at Wellington since October. 1915. has been transferred to New Plymouth, for which place he leaves this morning. A Press Association message from Boro states that Mr J. D. Cairns, editor of the Mataura "Ensign" for the past te.i years, died unexpectedly yesterday morning from pleurisy, supervening on influenza. Hundreds of ladies have proved to their complete satisfaction that Eusma (Rog'd.) permanently destroys superfluous hair. The first application loaves the face free from the unsightly growth, and the roots are ultiinatoly destroyed. A trial is convincing—Eusma (Reg'd.) can bo used at homo.
