A DENIAL
'To the Editor "N.Z. Times." Sir,—ln your issue of tb-day, you report Mr C. W. Tanner as stating that at the commencement of this by-election, he had written to the Labour Party, asking to join that party, and had received a reply stating that he would not be allowed to do so. To this statement, I want to givo an emphatic denial. As secretary of the Labour Party in Wellington, since its inception, I have never received any letter, nor ever written to him about his joining tho Labour Party, and I challenge Mr Tanner to produce the lotte ho states ho had written to us, and the reply ho said he had received. E. KENNEDY, Secretary, Wellington Labour Representation Committee. September 2<3tb, 1018.
