Wilder left Wellington on July loth and the Ozmo followed on August Bth, both with general cargo. WESTRALIA AT MELBOURNE. The local office of tho Huddart Parker Co. has received cable advice that the Westrulia arrived at Melbourne at 7 o'clock last Tuesday morning from Bluff. TO SHOW THE CURRENTS. On or about next Wednesuay the Marine Department will commence putting down floating discs in Cook Strait to show the trend of the currents. The discs are about Bft in diameter, and carry a pole, to which is attached a tin flag. Underneath the discs are fans to act similarly to a sea anohor, so that the effect of the winds will 'be minimised A bottle containing a printed form will be attached to each disc. The form will contain certain instructions to the finders to notify the Marine Department of the whereabouts of the disc. MANUKA FOR SYDNEY. The Manuka is due back at Wellington this morning from Lyttelton and trill berth at the King's wharf. Passengers for Sydney are notified that they must embark before 11 o'clock to-night, ae the vessel will leave the vJkarf at that hour. THE PUTIKI. The Putiki arrived at Timaru at 8 a.m. ■ yesterday from Wellington, and sailed at noon for Dunedin. The vessel will subsequently proceed to Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington, and is due here on Sunday. She will get away on Tuesday again for southern ports. " WORK AT THE SLIP. The Mapourika was placed 011 the slip at 3.30 p.m. yesterday for survey, cleaning and painting. She is to be relaunched early to-morrow morning. The Janie Seddon will go up on the cradle to-morrow morning, and will be brought off in the evening. The Ripple will go on the slip on Monday morning and will remain up for some days for a general overhaul. MONOWAI DELAYED. The Monowai has been delayed in tho south and will not leave Dunedin until to-morrow for Lyttelton and Wellington. The vessel is due here on Sunday and will sail on Monday foT Napier, Gisborne and Auckland. THE HINEMOA. The Hinemoa was engaged in the work of erecting a beacon on the Brothers Rook, Bay of Islands, yesterday, and is expected to be overhauling the buoys at Awanui to-day.
