C 1 CAMP

FIRST ANNIVERSARY

Jt, is a year ago to-day since Ui Gamp was opened at Oanvastown, EeatherStOn. Since then several thousand men have been in training under the graduated system, and an undoubted success has met tho effort to improve the physique of poorly developed men. It is Certain that many of the men With tho earlier draft have now passed through Sling Gamp, and are fn service in Franco. Ol Camp was first formed at Canvastown on September 25th of last year. Major J. W. Blunt was appointed 0.U., and in November the organisation moved to Tauherenikau, fresh drafts of men entering each month. Major Blunt continued as 0.0., and . Lieutenant Qnilliam was appointed adjutant. A few months ago tho Cl’s removed to Canvas Camp, and Major Ryder was made 0.0., with Lieqtenant QwlUara still as adjutant. On Tuesday of this week the CL Camp moved back to Tauherenikau, and this morning started its second year on the new encampment ground. There axe always from SOO to UriU men in d Camp, and these, are divided into five companies. During the year tho Cl’s have established a name for sport and entertainment, in addition to their drill, and only last week. General Robin congratulated them on vrtiat he described as their exceptionally smart and well-disciplined appearance.
