SHANNON NOTES
The concert in aid of the Catholi# Field Chaplain Fund and the drawing of the art union for the same cause were held in the Maoriland Theatre on Friday evening. There was a large attendance. Every item was vigorously applauded, many encores being demanded, fhe raffle for the doll was won by Mr J. Hennessy. , , , , , ' The return football match between the Fexton School and the local boys was played on Saturday. On arrival here the - Foston bo vs were entertained at dmner by the Shannon team. The game, which was evenly contested, was won by Shannon bv 11 to 9. Mr L. Buckman acted -as' referee... ' -’ ’Vj The latest casualty lists include the names of Sergeant A. F. Thomson (wounded). Private J. Lenihan (wounded), and Private E. J. Gunning (sick). These three soldiers .enlisted from true town and are well known both in sport : mr and business circles. The main streets of Shannon are al present presenting an animated appear, nnce. the work of kerhing and chan idling being in progress.
