NEW WORKS FOR ART GALLERY
For the purchase of -works from tho exhibition in aid of tho blind French -oldiers, the following additional subscriptions are acknowledged:—lv.ven and Co., £lO 10s; To Aro House, C Smith, Ltd.; Robert Hannah, W. D. Hunt, George and Kersiey, A. E. Kernot, and D.1.C., each £5 ss; William Simm, £3 3s; R. W. Holmes, Veitch and Allan, each £2 2s; W. A. Bowring, Uharles Wilson, and Miss D. K. Richmond, each £1 Is; W. Bethuno and A. Macintosh, eachafil. Tho total amount collected, including the works purchased and presented by Messrs Kirk caldie, Shirtcliffe, and VVoston, is £670. Last evening the selection committee was able to acquire lor the public gallery a fine work by L. Jones, on titled •'The Refugees"'; also six reproductions of drawings by the great French master "Steinlet." At the request of the academy, Mr Rogers has consented, to opon tho exhibition free to the public on Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
