Although she has been prevented, by illness lately' from taking her place in the .patriotic work going forward at the Town Hall, the Mayoress (Mrs J. P. Luke) has kept up her interest in the work nearest her heart and has pushed oh as much as possible the Christmas pudding fund, which supplies a Christmas 1 pudding to every Wellington man on active service. The Oountess of Liverpool Fund workers have been at the meat works at Ngahauranga for some days making tho. puddings, which are to go into the Christmas parcels for the men in the trenches. These will bo largely the school children's gift; as each child subscribing a shilling has the right to sond a signed card with tho pudding and get the acknowledgment for it. A limited number of larger puddings are being made,' however, which are intended for' dispatch to the Now Zealand hospitals in France and England. Do-
