The Mount Lyell Mining-' end Railway Co., Ltd., reports as under for the fortnight ended June sth : North Mount Lyell Mine—7ooft level breaking out ore in north drive continues on ground floor; 925 ft level No. 2 north drive to 376 ft, in low grade qimrtzitic oro; KJ'Jtlft level, No. 33-1 diamond drill bore, drilled horizontally to 171 ft, passed through fair grade ore for first 9}ft and again between 101 ft and i4&i't; 1100 ft level nortli drive to 431 ft through schist and iiuartzite. Reduction Works.—One furnace in blast ! during the fortnight; 4033 tons of blister copper consigned to the refinery for tho current year.

MOUNT REAiD AND ROSEBERY MINES.

The Mount Read and Rosebery Mines, Ltd., issued the following report for the fortnight ended June sth ;

Hercules Mine.—No. 5a adit reached 275 ft in scEst and quartzite, showing a littlo sulphide oro; No. 5 level now adit extended to 275 ft in calcitio and quartzite.

Rosebery Mine.—Main adit level to 419 ft shows full faco of low grade ore; No. 6 level, north drivo, reached 715 ft, six feet width of good grade oro showing; at No. 5 level drive, north of No. 11, rise to 13ft, with fair grade oro over full width of face; i level, north drive to 753 ft, i'ft of fair grade ore showing on footwall side; No. 8 level, north drive to 249 ft, with low grade ore over full faoe.

CHRISTCHURCH, June 18. There is no movement of any consequence in grain and very little In seeds. Chaff, also, is unsaleable at present. Potatoes have taken a sharp rise, as growers are holding more firmly. Sales have taken place at £h 15s at country stations, and £6 is being asked, and would probably be paid, to secure immediate delivery. Onions, also are firmer, and are quoted at £$ to £Q 5s at country stations.
