DARING JEWEL ROBBERY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received June 14, 10.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, June 14. Another daring robbery took place this afternoon. Two men entered Kilpatrick's jewellery shop in Collitns street and adked to see diamond rings. They seized a ti.-ay of rings valued at £3OOO and bolted. They fastened a chain across tho doorway to prevent pursuit, and so escaped. » SCHEME FOR REARING CALVES. (Received June 14, 10.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 14. In view of the shortage of cattle Cabinet is considering a scheme of the Minister for Lands for rearing more calves. The idea is to secure the cooperation of butter and cheese factories in utilising their waste products such as whey, buttermilk, and skim milk for feeding the calves. Already strong support is promised. PROHIBITION DURING THE WAR. (Received June 14, 10.15 p.m.) BRISBANE, June 14. The Anglican Synod has passed a resolution in favour of prohibition during war timo.
Archbishop Donaldson opposed the motion, but admitted that.alcohol "'as closely allied to sexual vice. Tliey could not, he said, institute an earthly paradise by eradicating one particular sin in war time. Prohibition was a revolutionary as opposed to an evolutionary measure, and he ivas not propared to favour a measure that meant injustice*
