MELBOURNE, April 25,
Speaking in the House of Representatives respecting the allegations ol Albert Nash, that he had made gifts to Mr Tudor, as Minister for Customs, and his Vife, in order to placate himself with the Customs Department, Mr Tudor made an explanation. He absolutely denied the allegations of Nash. No one had presented jewellery to his wife for the past twenty years. He first met Nash in connection with rowing and football, and the whole conversations at the luncheons'concerned football and the war. Nash requested him to accept a present for advice ho had given on football matters, which he declined. The following Christmas someone, presumably Nash., forwarded Mrs Tudor’s two daughters a bracelet, a watch and chain, and a locket, as Christmas presents. His whole connection with Nash was concerned with sport. Customs matters were never Mentioned.
(Received April 25, 10.40 p.m.) MELBOURNE, April 25,
During the debate in the House of Representatives on Mr F. G. Tudor’s censure motion, Mr Hughes said that no one would believe the statement made against Mr Tudor in the Nash bankruptcy case. He himself would not believe it if 50,000 people swore to it. He characterised Mr Nosh’s statement as ridiculous and absurd. He die not believe there was enough money in the world to buy Mr Tudor.
