A somewhat serious position has arisen in the Marine Department. Lieutenant p. M. Miller, chief clerk, is due to go into camp on Monday. 110 came, out fr.om England' a short time ago, after special training at Home, to take out his company. The Department made urgent application for exemption, and was given three months’ leave. The department again applied, but the board ruled that as he was a single man, perfectly fit and specially trained, ho must go into camp. In the list ’published, yesterday appears the name of Mr G. H* A. Tanner, the acting-chief clerk of the department.
