“The Merry -Widow/- frith its haunting waltz, was rerived:at 1 tee; Grand Opera House by the - Royal Comic Opera Company last evening; ’ There wps a crowded house, and this --par-ticuiarl'y-effective opera of Franz Lehar was .prcn seated with all the brilliance of a tost production. The audience, included. HISExcellency the , Governor-Generain. and Lady Liverpool. . - The/ - exceptional, strength of the present enabled the opera to be performed in . a manner which called forth the greatest enthusiasm. In th© tills'.role.3liss nie Love was thoroughly -fascinating, and she had a remarkably capable coadjutor in Air Leslie Holland, who took the part of Prince Danilo.- Miss Iterance Young gave a magnificent impersonation of Natalie, and Mr Reginald Roberts was singularly happy as the vico-mte Jolidon. Mr Phil Smith was an exceedingly humorous Baron Popon, and Mr Clyde Cook gave prominence to tho part of Nisch. - Tho other - members of the company appeared to infinite advantage in characters which -suited them admirably. Most handsomely , was the piece put on, so far as stage equipments aTo concerned, ‘and the chorus and or-/ chestra built up great ensembles, tonight “The Pink Lady” will be reproduced for the last night of the season.
