NATIONAL PRAYER
TO-MORROW'S CELEBRATIONS. In response to the request of the Govern.me.nt that Sunday, October 7th. should be set apart as a day of national m-aver His Worship the Mayor has ar-rau-ed for a united religious service, fo bThehl in the Town Halt to-mor-row. Sunday, the 7th rest., at 3 P- m - His Lordship Bishop Sprott will deliver the address, and the Gibb, J. G Chapman, and.J. Reed Glassou will also take part in the service. His Worship the Mayor (will preside. The order of service will be ing hymn, “Great King of Nations, Hear Our Prayer"; Scripture reading, Psalm 51; hymn “O God of Love, O King of Peace”: Scripture reading. Hebrews, Chapter 13, verses 1 to H: Prayer; hymn, ‘‘Eternal Father, Strong to Save”; the Address; hymn* O God Our Help in Ages Past ; Benediction. The service will close with the National Anthem. HIGH MASS AT BASILICA. The day of national prayer will bo celebrated at the Basilica, Hill street by a Solemn High Maes at 10.30, at which His Grace Archbishop Redwood will preside and speak. Tho St. Patrick’s College Cadets will parade, and the Mass will bo sung by the college choir. SALVATION ARMY SERVICES. The national day'of prayer finds the Salvation Amy uniting with the other churches for the united Town Hall service, and in addition Ctommissioner Hod, der is conducting two important supplicatory services. , , ~ . ~ The first of these will be held in tho Vivian street Citadel at 11 o’clock on Sunday morning. At 7 p.m. the Grand Opera House will bo tho scene ci the evening engagement. Commissioner Hodder will Jbo the principal speaker at each service, and will be supported by Mrs Hodder, tho Chief Secretary (Lieutenant-Colonel McInnes), and entire staff of tho National Headquarters, as well as the officers from the various suburban corps. Selections will bo given by tho Wellington city and South Wellington bands; also by the Songster Brigade-yall contributing to that which promises to he a specially effective senes of supplicatory, services.
