MASTEEiTO'N, September 1. No bankruptcies were registered in Wairarapa during August. There have been four bankruptcies during the present year. ' Throe cases of drunkenness were dealt with at the Master-ton Stipendiary Magistrate’s Court last month. The vital statistics for Masterton during August ar© as follow; Births 27, deaths 11, marriages 7. A combined boarding and day school in connection with St. Matthew's Church, Masterton, is to bo erected on a property of fourteen acres in Powuali street. The improvement to St. Patrick’s Church and grounds have cost approximately £looor The whole of this sum was subscribed voluntarily by the members of the parish.
