SHANNON NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, Wednesday. A very pleasant ceremony took place on Tuesday night at tho establishment of Mr Vy. H. Gunning, where tho employees met to make a presentation of a handsome Boulton breakfast cruet to Miss Phyllis Gunning, to mark the occasion of her approaching marriage. Mr Clayton (senior employee), in making the presentation, referred to tho high esteem in which the recipient was held, and expressed the iTnanimous opinion for her future welfare and happiness. The little gathering dispersed with hearty cheers from, th© employees. After all the heavy rains and floods we have been experiencing lately, travelling on the roads is not very pleasant, as very largo holes have been made hero and there, and one has to be very careful in not having their vehicles upset. Journeying by daylight is bad enough, but anyone not accustomed to the road by night is apt to make nse of expressions not always appreciated.
