FORMATION OF COALITION GOVERNMENT

The majority in favour of conscription encourages the Government to believe that the formation of a Coalition Government is likely to be successful. Tho final vote was 102 for as against 44. The opposition was almost exclusively French-Canadians. , Sir Wilfrid LaUrier asserted that he wished to send reinforcements, hut thought voluntaryism had not been exhausted. His policy was to convince tho people by argument; ii that failed, he refused to coerce them.
