TALKS ON THE WAR
A large and enthusiastic audience filled the concert chamber of the Town Hall last - night when several returned officers delivered lectures with the aid of mans and charts, on the scenes at the various war fronts. The doings of tho New Zealanders at Afesopotamia, the Persian Gulf, the, landing and evacuation of Gallipoli and Salonika, were described in every detail which evoked rounds of applause from the audience. Amongst the speakers were Captain HaU-Thompson. LieutenantColonel J- Hughes, Major F. Waite, Major C. E. Andrews, and Lieutenant B. T. Shand. During the interval sweets were sold for the Red Cross fund, in aid of which the entertainment was given, and it is expected that a large sum will be handed over.
