I.W.W. IN AUSTRALIA

A BILL TO CHECK ITS AIACHINATTONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received July 19, 5.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE. July 10. Air Hughes, in moving the’ second reading of the Unlawful Association Amending Bill, which aims at the 1.W.W., said the previous Act was found to be insufficient to cope with this great menace. The larger portion of the members consisted of tho scourings of society and did not voice the aspirations of organised Labour. They came into being to defeat organised Labour. They declared war against society, and the Government was accepting their challenge. Tho body was flourishing, and funds were coming in freely. It threatened to destroy the industry of the country, and stood in the way of the country doing its best economically to assist the war; therefore it could not be allowed to exist. The bill provides for the prevention of the circulation of literature by tho members of tho Association, and renders liable to six months’ imprisonment and dismissal anv public servant who is a member of the organisation, and the deportation of other than Aus-tralian-born subjects.
