BUND IN AID OF BEREAVED FAMILY.

The monster benefit concert to be held on Tuesday evening next in the Town Hall promises to be a huge success. The tickets aro finding a ready sale, and as a number of leading Wellington artists are taking part the programme should be a particularly good one. Ihe committee desire it to be known that no expenses whatever will be deducted from the* gross proceeds of the concert. As this is a very deserving object it is to bo hoped that the public of ''Wellington. with their usual generosity, will purchase as many tickets as ■ they can, and in doing so they will help (o lighten the burden of Mrs Fitzgerald end her seven young children. The Wellington Patriotic Society Band has offered to give an open-air performance at Newtown Park next Sunday afternoon in aid of the fund. On behalf of the Wellington Soft Goods .Employees’ Union, Mr -3. W. Croskerv has written to the Ma%'or (Mr ,T. P. Luke, C.M.G.) requesting him to open a public subscription list m aid of the widow and children of the ..late Mr Fitzgerald. The union urges that sucu a case as this should not be neglected, oven though there have been many appeals to the public, and it assures the Mayor that inquiries are being made daily by all classes of the community as to whether anything is being done. The union offers to make a donation itself and to make a systematic canvass of soft goods houses. On Saturday evening, the Salvation Army Band will parade the streets of Wellington, and will take up a collection in Dixon street to augment the fund. The Wellington South. Band will taka up a similar collection in the streets of Newtown.
