A POPULAR BREED OF COWS
MEETING OF N.Z. FRIESIAN ASSOCIATION. (From Our Special Jleporter.) PALMERSTON N-, Juno 20. Tho annual meeting of the Now Zealand Friesian Association was lield tonight. Mr J. H. Parkinson presided. Tho report for the past year showed that considerable progress lad been made, and that The Friesian was becoming a papular breed. Forty-nine cows and heifers were granted certificates of merit by Government test. During tho past year the number of animals tested was disappointing. Ho trusted breeders would give this important factor sincere attention. A good trade presents itself with Ausralia, a number of animals having been sold bust year. The Dairy Division of the Agricultural Department was thanked for assistance in building up tho dairy herd to a creditable standard, Mr Andrew Loan (Makutoku) has donated a silver cup for the first junior two-year-old to put up ooOlbs of fat under semi-official conditions., Tho report ivas adopted. Mr Marchant (Cardiff) considered tho Association should make greater efforts to promote sehh-official testing. Only £IOO of their revenue had been utilised in this direction during the past year, which was not enough. The secretary stated that a fund was being created with the idea _of importing cattle after tho conclusion of tho war from Holland. Tho following officers, were elected: President, Mr E. C. Banks (Mataraata); vice-presidents, Mr C. E. Buckland (Cambridge) and» Mr G. Aitcheson (Kaitangata) ; treasurer, -Mr J. Liggms (Tokomaru); auditor, Mr P. L. Simm; council, Messrs Lenard and Troupe.
