EXCESS PROFITS TAX
RAT'D TO BE INEQUITABLE. Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 20. At a well-attended meeting to-night* under the auspices of the local branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, resolutions were passed affirming the opinion that the excess profits tax has proved inequitable and should not be re-enacted; also that the simplest and fairest method of raising taxation would be by means of a graduated income tax; and that the meeting request Parliamentary representatives to urge the Government to hasten the setting up of the proposed commission of inquiry composed of experts to report upon the whole question of direct taxation.
