Tho Anchor Company’s steamer Alexander is duo at Wellington from Tarukoho to-morrow morning with a load of cement, and will sail in the evening direct for Westport and Greymouth. Four German ships in Swatow harbour have been placed under a Chinese guard. Tho German ships at Shanghai are being removed from the anchorages they have occupied since tho commencement of the war. They are all to be berthed near the arsenal. Tho Kahika left Westport at 10 o clock yesterday morning with a full load of coal for Wellington. On last Saturday nine steamers were listed to be dispatched from Westport by the Union Company this week for Auckland, Lyttelton, Oamaru, Timaru, Dunedin. Bluff, and "Wellington. Tho Kittawa left Greymouth at 10.30 a.m. yesterday for Wellington with a load of timber, part of which will be put out at a town wharf and part at Miramar. The vessel was expected to be landing at Cuvier Island lighthouse yesterday, and is due at Auckland to-day.
