TEACHERS’ WAR BONUS

CRITICISM RESENTED. Press Association. NAPIER, June 18. Strong exception was taken at a meeting of the Teachers’ Institute to the remarks made by a member of the Canterbury Education Board and to the resolution passed by the same body in reference to the war bonus granted to teachers and other civil servants last year. The following resolution was passed unanimously:—“That the Napier branch of the Teachers’ Institute resents the reference by a member of the Canterbury Education Board to the bonus granted last year to teachers as being ‘blood money’ and takes exception to the resolution passed referring to the same, considering that the said 1 board has no right to speak for the general body of teachers.’’
