SUNDAY LABOUR
STRONG APPEAL TO BRITISH PLOUGHMEN. Sir Arthur Lee, the Director-Gener-al of Food Production at Home, has issued the following appeal to all ploughmen and workers on the land; In the trenches German shells come over on Sunday as on week days 1 German submarines are just as active on Sundays as on any other day! . 'The enemy takes no holidays. He uses every hour to destroy your country and kill your brothersWill you not work every hour from daybreak to dark— week-day and Sunday—for the next lew weeks? Your work now may make just the difference between winning the war and losing it. Put in your best work. Interior work means poor crops. The War Office, Sir Arthur Lee says, has undertaken to give the farmers every assistance in the wav or labour, and he believes that ir they will belo in the fullest extent a further 50*000 acres will be under cultivation within the nest six weeks.
