SUNDRY OFFENDERS PUNISHED. Messrs J. W- Ellison and R, D. Hanlon J.P.'s, presided- over a sitting of the Magistrate's -Court yesterday morning, when a lengthv list of people who htuJ celebrated Easter in too furious a fashion to meet with the respect of the police were dealt with for drunkenness. Brio Norman 'McAJihden and Julia Scholtes were each fined 10s, or fortyeight hours in this'respect. A soldier named Joseph William Roberts, who was found begging in Taranaki street, was charged with being idle and disorderly. ' He was convicted and ordered to be handed over to the military authorities. William Southee and his son, David John Southee, charged with sheepstealing at Akatarawa, were further remanded till Wednesday. Bail was allowed in each case in JHO. Mr C, W. Nielson appeared for accused. A soldier named John Leonard was ordered to pay 17b 6d. tjie cost of medical treatment, on a charge of helpless drunkenness.
