Mr L. H. King, of Wanganui, and late of Marlborough, has been appointed organising secretary of tho Waikato Sub-Provincial District of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. Mills and Co., Ltd., who recently died suddenly nt Honolulu, wore interred at Karori last week.

On Thursday next Major J. "L. Bleu* man, X.G.S., IHrector of Military Train, ing, will assume the duties of ComWndant at the Wanganui College, which for four days is to be converted into a "barracks" so that tho boys attending might be put through a course of military instruction. The progromme of training will consist of instructional exorcises and manoeuvres, particular importance being attached to individual training and a. high standard of discipline. Similar "barracks’’- will bo held at the Waikato Boys’-High School front April 22nd till April 27th. Mr S. D. Babone, of tho Bank of Now Zealand, who hag been stationed at Motucka for some time, has been promoted to a more responsible position in tho Takaka branch. Mr Babone, who is tho third son of Mr Samuel Babone, of Karori, enlisted with the -Ith Reinforcements. and boonniQ paymaster at Awapuni, but after serving for twelve months was discharged on account of ill-health. One of his brothers (Ist Rifle Brigade) was wounded in Egypt once and in France three times, and is now camp instructor at Efesex. Another is on the staff of tho hospital ship Maheno, while another is about to go into camp.
