To the Editor “N.Z. Times." Sir, —Mr William Ferguson, chairman of the National Efficiency Board, intends to see that A. and P. Shows, amusements, ami horse racing and pictures shall be counted out. But he forgot to mention that when these things come to pass tho National Government, when they have the plucnt to meet the electors, will also be cotinted out. Ferguson notifies an open inquiry as to the efficiency of continuing picture shows, A. and P. Shows, sporting (chiefly horse racing), and whether it is in the interest of the community to discontinue this above while the war is on. Could you inform your numerous readers if the Efficiency Boards will take evidence in regard to the sale and consumption of alcoholic liquor, and how it affects the efficiency of the people? If we are to win the war, don’t let us lop of the leaves, but get down to the root and destroy the main evil first. If won’t take long to clear lip the other litter.—l am, etc., C. W. SOLE.
