MIRAMAR AFFAIRS

BUSINESS AT COUNCIL MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held last night. There were present the Mayor (Mr Townsend), and Councillors Underwood, Hawthorne, and Green. Mr H- P. Rawson wrote asking the council, to extend the drainage to five sections at Seatoun and offering to pay half cost of same.—Agreed to. A letter was received from the Department of Internal Affairs relative to the celebration of Anzac Day.—lt was decided to observe the day as a public holiday. Permission was granted to the Salvation Army to use Seatoun Park on Easter Monday for the Brooklyn Young People’s Corps to hold a nicIt was decided to lease on certain term® portions of the rotunda at Seatonn to R. B. Williams for the purposes of a bookstall. Accounts amounting to £5620 were passed for payment.
