“THE MAN WHO SAVED THE EMPIRE”
To the Editor “N.Z. Times.” Sir,—l hope for the sake of the returned soldiers —actual and. potential—that Dr. Mackenzie’s letter, and the wise and thoughtful suggestions made in it, will not bo allowed to drift into obscurity of the past. If tire doctor’s suggestions are used for a starting point, and a scheme euch os he. proposes devised by the proper people, the result will be that the war will help New Zealand forward instead of setting it back. _ _ . The people are still patiently looking to the Government to organise the resources of the country to prevent exploitation of the resources by tbe individual, to control efficiently the cost of living, and above all to settle the returned soldier problem in a statesmanlike manner, so that when the hard time conies there may be order, peace, and increased production instead of the anarchy we are now drifting towards.— I am, etc.. J. G. CLUNS.
