HOMING PIGEON RACES

On March 4th the Wellington Homing Pigeon Society flow its third young bird race, the distance of 134 miles, an airline from Waiouru, being covered by Mr A. Clark’s b c h in 3hr 50min Slsec, thus proving an easy winner, as the following position will show : Mr A. Clark’s b c h No. IS. 1033 yards per minute. Mr W. <l. Geary’s bc h No. 71, 1023 yards per minute. Mr Chas. Bidding’s b c c No. 192, 1028 yards per minute. 5Xr A. lamb’s b c o No. 470, 1020 yards ' per minute. Mr J. Perrptt’s b c h No, 235, 1025.5 yards per minute. Mr J. Bolton’s bee No. 449, 1925.18 yards per minute. On March 11th the club.flew the fourth young bird race in the form of an interval race from 'i’aihapo. 124 miles airtine, in which sixteen lofts were represented, by one bird each. The first bird was liberated at 8.30 a.m. and the remainder at intervale of ten minutes, so that the last bird left at 11 a.m. The winning bird, owned bv Mr J. Bolton, flew the distance in 3hr 2-lmin. The results were as follow; — Mr J. Bolton’s b c h 445. 3hr 24mxn, Mr C. Geson’s bee 375, 3hr 35min. Mr J. H. Clark’s b c c 37, 3hr 43min. Mr G. Wilson’s b c h 119, 3hr 51miu. Mr Chas. Bidding’s mealy c 187, 3hr 53min, Mr A. Clark's r c c 25, 3hr 55min. The placed birds in the race from Daunevirke, a distance of 103 miles airline, in which 154 birds competed, are owned by the following members (Mr J. Bolton’s b c h being an easy winner; ; Mr J. Bolton’s bee No. 167, 939 yards per minute. Mr J Bruce's b c h No. 279. 929 yards per minute. Mr J. Perrett's bob No. 88. 924 yards per minute. Mr A- Clark’s b e c No. 14, 922 yards per minute. Mr J.
